Peter Schultz, flute
Peter Schultz was on the faculty of Phillips Exeter Academy from 1990 to 2021 where he conducted the chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, directed the chamber music program, and taught music theory. He completed his Doctorate in flute performance at Manhattan School of Music in 2002 as a student of Michael Parloff, principal flute of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has been a winner of the New York Flute Club’s Young Artist Competition and the National Flute Association’s Professional Performer’s Competition.
Peter received a Master’s degree in Flute Performance at SUNY at Stony Brook as a student of Samuel Baron. He continued his study of the flute with Eleanor Lawrence and as a regular participant in the seminars of Marcel Moyse. An active freelancer in the New York area for many years, Peter also taught at Manhattan School of Music’s pre[1]college division and at Lehigh University. Peter has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, Bethlehem Bach Festival, the New Hampshire Symphony and numerous other orchestras and chamber music groups in the New York area. In the summer Peter teaches and performs at Kinhaven Music School in Vermont at its Adult Chamber Music Workshop, and its Senior and Junior sessions.
